MusicPlayer has been rewritten entirely from scratch! The old version has had some reliability, performance and usability issues that have been completely rectified in this new version.

It currently is in very late stages of testing and is only waiting for the store update to be completed before taking over from the old version.

As always with my projects, this has been written entirely without the use of Pretend Intelligence (AI)

New Features

While this list isn't extensive at all, these changes can make a big difference in terms of usability

  • Saving playlists: All your playlists that you create in MusicPlayer can be saved. This means that you only have to fiddle with the playlist once and you can load it again when you need it.
  • OpenID Connect Login: Use any OpenID Connect provider to log in to MusicPlayer.
  • Themes: The main application now has multiple different themes to make it more yours
  • Completely reworked design concept for the shared pages

Other improvements

These are mostly tweaks to existing features

  • Backend rewritten in Go: Much higher performance at lower memory footprint
  • WebSockets for shares: much more efficient with reliable reconnect on connection loss
  • Polling or SSE for shares without Anti-Tamper: Choose what you prefer
  • Anti-Tamper shares use WebSockets: This allows for efficient bi-directional communication
  • Updated design language
  • Two different types of animations for the fancy share page
  • QR Code auto-generated on share page
  • Much more advanced error recovery
  • Loading playlists that contain local songs has automatic song association, meaning that if you don't rename the songs on disk, you most likely never even notice that a lot of processing happens in the background to re-associate them with the correct song in the playlist upon loading.
